How did I get to this point in my life where I have go-to garbage bags and would review them? The bags fit my Rubbermaid 13-gallon touch top trash can as expected. They’re easy to put on and stand up to my extreme laziness when it comes to taking out the trash in a timely fashion. I feel like they’ve held together under twenty or more pounds of pointy trash in them without fail, which is all I could ask from a trash bag. No embarrassing accidents yet. Drawstrings are sturdy and haven’t broken yet either. Hefty definitely beats the generic brands I’ve tried, would recommend these for anyone with a 13-gallon bin.

These bags are PERFECT for my needs. I have never had a tear or the slightest issue, and Amazon just told me that my re-order was for the 4th time. I use another type of Hefty bag for my trash, and I use these for my recycling in a tall Rubbermaid bin. Dear folks, we need to take care of our trash bags, and here’s how I do it: I keep a large Ziploc bag magneted to my fridge. Recycled, was probably used previously to freeze bread crumbs or cheese rinds. Into it I dump anything sharp: cat food lids, any tinned food lid, the plastic spoons that I use to retrieve cat food, even the metal caps from wine bottles because they have little spines on them. Little shards of firewood that I pick up from the carpet. Crumbled-up aluminum foil. The occasional wayward pin, needle, or even paper clip! Any of these tiny things can cause a hole in your trash bag! I’ve been doing this for years and, ever since, I’ve never had the slightest problem with a bag breaking either in its bin or, oh my goodness, while carrying it down my condo’s carpeted stairs!

Some of us just don’t generate enough garbage and/or trash to necessitate running it out to the dumpster on a daily basis. Double- and even triple-bagging my kitchen wastebasket with basic trashcan bags had proven ineffective in containing the odor, however subtle. With just the first use, these lived up to the claim of ‘odor blocking.’ And being very sensitive to fragrances…opted for the unscented…so am happy having neither a funky garbage stink or annoying fruity/flower-y smell in my kitchen. Durable even when filled to the max and quite heavy. No issues of breakage or leaking. Despite the claim that these are 13-gallon, happy that they run a bit small as they fit more comfortably in my 10-gallon kitchen wastebasket than other 13-gallon bags which have always been much too large.

These are REALLY unscented. Other major brand’s unscented bags are perfumy.

These bags perfectly fit the kitchen trash can. There are two rolls in the box, and the bags peel off easily; they are not attached by perforations. The bags open and go into the container with great ease, and when filled, they come out and tie easily for disposal. I can tie the bag closed and the string will allow me to open it back up for last minute additions to the pile and re-tie it, which is awesome. The bag is also strong. I couldn’t ask for more in this product. Perfect.

These are great trash bags and fit our standard 13 gallon trash can easily. Not all trash bags are created equal and others are difficult to fit around the top of the trash can. These go on with little effort, yet feel very secure around the rim. I’ve filled these to the top with heavy items and they have never broken through, while other bags tear or puncture easily. Name brand isn’t always better, but it is with these Hefty trash bags.Bonus, our child’s school also appreciated the box top from the packaging.Update: I purchased a watermelon and it was horrible. Never before has a watermelon tasted this bad so the entire watermelon went into the trash. The Hefty bag handled the 20 pound watermelon along with other miscellaneous kitchen trash with ease. It never broke or showed any signs of giving way. It went all the way into the garage and safely delivered the contents into the garbage. Any bag that can handle this type of load is worthy of a five star review!

I have an immune disorder that causes, among other things, bouts of coughing and even asthma attacks in response to fragrances. It is not always easy to find fragrance-free garbage bags in the supermarket. Plus I need to look for them in an aisle full of fragrances. .it’s than once I have purchased fragrance-free garbage bags that were mislabeled. I use the Subsribe and Save program to get the correct product without having to search, and without running out of my favorite trash bags.

For 13-gallon kitchen bags, I had been using Glad. Lately there have been lots of problems with those ripping, even being torn right out of the box. I’ve also never liked the way you have to stretch the Glad bag at the top to get them over the rim of a 13-gallon container. Because there were so many torn bags last time, I decided to try something else. I found these. The first thing I noticed was that these fit easily over the rim of the 13-gallon container. The bags do not need to be stretched. I then compared the circumference at the top for the two bags. The circumference for the Hefty is 5 inches more than the Glad. No wonder it easily fits onto the container. I then compared the weight on my not-so-precise electronic postal scale that only measures to within .2 ounces. A single Hefty bag weighed out to .8 ounces. The Glad to .6. So you seem to get more plastic with the Hefty, which I’m thinking makes them stronger and less prone to rip. Whatever the reason, no problems with them tearing — so far.I’m not an employee or shill for the manufacturer or seller. I will probably try other brands that may work out better. I have not received any freebies or money in return for this review.
