Have amassed several handmade carpets and they were all overdue for a deep cleaning. I used the carpet cleaning attachment on my Kirby vacuum and the Kirby Pet Owners Carpet Shampoo. The experience was pleasant and the results are transforming. The Kirby shampoo was not sticky, did not gum-up the machine, no residue detected once the carpets were dry and vacuumed. Kirby shampoo neutralized some ‘dog problem’ areas and greatly reduced stains from dogs and general use, and it didn’t cause any color bleeding of the hand dyed wool yarns in my carpets. Kirby shampoo transformed my well loved and worn handmade carpets, it brought back the amazing colors, allowed the fibers to lift and become rich looking, fluffy and new, NO GUMMY RESIDUE or creepy carpet cleaning smell. This has proven to be a wonderful and effective carpet shampoo solution for my needs.

If you got the shampoo sample that came with your Kirby and loved it, this is that same thing. It has that smell and effectiveness and I’ve never had a better shampoo system. I don’t work for Kirby but everybody I know says that I should because I always keep talking about it It is by far the best vacuum and shampoo machine I have ever witnessed. When I was a child my uncle used to install carpet. He had the best vacuum cleaner that I ever saw. It would vacuum up all of the little scraps and fur balls from installing carpet, and years later when I bought my Kirby, I realized his was a Kirby. The feeling and durability of that electric cord brought me right back to those “work with uncle for the day” days. I can’t say enough good things about this machine and this is the shampoo you want. I promise. (I own 3 dogs and two cats and this shampoo and Kirby combo make it all smell brand new and fresh and all the stains come out with EASE)

Kirby has never steered me wrong. I shampooed my carpets and it was easy and efficient. They look just like they did when we moved in 3 years ago. I should also mention we’re a family of 3. We have 2 inside dogs and a cat. Needless to say, there’s a lot of high traffic areas in our house. It left my carpets smelling so great! Plus it has a scotch guard (kirby guard) that lasts up to 6 months. It removed all of the pet accidents especially some horrible diarrhea fiasco that our large dog had the other day. Carpets usually really gross me out. I don’t let babies on the carpet but now I’m confident that my baby will be able to play on the carpet and not have top worry about the filth.But the best thing, besides clean, fresh carpet…is the fact that I did my whole house and it was completely dry within 45 mins and its completely fine to walk on it right after its been shampooed. Love the fact that it only uses 10% of water on the carpet. Its almost like a dry shampoo only better because it works with not saturating the carpet (which will void the warranty on your carpet. This shampooer will NOT void the warranty on your carpet because it doesn’t saturate the back side of the carpet. Therefore, the padding stays dry so there’s no risk of mildew.This is the ONLY shampooer i will use on my floors

I don’t have pets, but I do have a small child with an ostomy bag that tears open…. Frequently. Recently we had an explosion of such epic proportions that I thought it was the end of my embattled carpet. It looked like Galliger went to town on a tub of chocolate pudding in my living room. Ill spare the public from pictures, but it was a horror story.This stuff works miracles. Seriously.Admittedly I did have to scrub everything twice, but you can’t even tell anything has happened to that carpet. No stains. No smell. It’s gone. Like it never even happened.If you have pets (or children), and you have carpet or rugs, you NEED a Kirby. If you have a Kirby, you NEED the right shampoo – and this is it.Kirby FTW

Smells nice & fresh, without being overwhelming. Seems to remove pet accident smells as well as nasty vinegar, and removes the stains better, too. It’s not perfect — it doesn’t completely lift bile stains out of white carpet (altho maybe it would with a higher-end carpet steamer, or getting to them before they set in), but they get about 80% of it. Have purchased several carpet shampoos for pets, and this one is by far my favorite.

From potty-training children to house-training puppies, from marrying a mechanic with greasy boots to being an avid gardener myself, I LOVE this shampoo. I use it on EVERYTHING soft–car upholstery, furniture, and (of course) carpets and rugs.I’ve found it works best as a stain remover if you pretreat the area with a spray bottle of the concentrate (which also means that you don’t need as much shampoo for the entire area when you use the full shampoo system). Also, a a stain treatment, the best way to work it in is your own fingers, followed by a terrycloth towel. I started having problems with my softest nylon brushes tearing apart my couch and carpet. Using my fingers is gentler on the fabric and seems to achieve better saturation of foam.Does not work well on grease stains, but dirt, oil, grass and blood (our dog had a tumor that ruptured!) all came out nicely when treated immediately.As for urine: I’ve read reviews saying it’s great, but I’m a believer in vinegar and ALWAYS pretreat urine with vinegar and a water rinse. Perhaps I will try omitting the vinegar treatment and update my findings here. UPDATE: I tried it on a fresh urine spot without pre-treating with vinegar. Close to the carpet, the smell of urine is still very evident, so I am pre-treating with vinegar and proceeding to clean the area again.Odor: I suffer terrible migraines and have to be careful with cleaning products, as most of them trigger migraines for me. The odor of this shampoo is light enough and disperses quickly enough that I’ve never had a migraine using it, even in an enclosed room in winter, or the leftover odor from cleaning the car. It’s very pleasant and smells wonderful.Ease of use: one of the main selling points of this shampoo for me is that I can allow it to dry then vacuum it up, rather than saturating whatever I am cleaning with rinse water. It dries quickly and I’ve had no harm to my vacuum from running it over a still-damp area to help the drying process.For deep cleaning, I still rent an industrial steam cleaner, but this helps with the spot cleaning and lighter shampooing (and even pre-treating prior to steam cleaning) and makes a deep cleaning an annual instead of a quarterly event.Cheers!

This product is amazing! It honestly has removed any stain that I’ve applied it on. I have used this product for years. You don’t have to have Kirby to use it. I put some in a spray bottle , and use it in my entire house and automobile . It gets the stain out and smells amazing. I applied it a blood stain, and it disappeared in seconds, without scrubbing . You can’t go wrong with this product.

I have a large, white rug and two 50 lb dogs. (Rug came before the dogs, for the record.) In addition to “accidents” on the rug, reddish brown spots started to appear where the dogs often lay and wrestle. I tried a “natural” carpet cleaner (I’m weird about chemicals) to clean up the accidents and it was an absolute disaster. Since I have a Kirby, I decided to order this carpet cleaner for pet owners before I gave up on rugs altogether. I’m so glad I did. It took me right at an hour total to clean an 8×10 rug with deep, soiled spots, in two separate sessions. For comparison, I spent 3 hours on a 2×4 spot with the “natural” pet carpet cleaner. With this Kirby cleaner, I tackled the worst spot first and it disappeared before my eyes. I regretted not taking a ‘before’ photo so I quickly snapped a photo of the second worst spot before I continued and again once I finished cleaning that spot.I’m not sure if Kirby recommends this or not but I did the whole carpet with the carpet cleaner then I did the whole carpet again with just plain water. Like a wash then rinse. I hit the dirtiest spots with another round of wash then rinse. I made sure to very slowly go back and forth over the carpet during the rinse, after all the water was distributed, to suck the water back up. I dumped the reservoir several times during this process, indicating it picked up a lot of water. Also for note, I had a Bissell carpet shampooer before I bought my Kirby and the Kirby is so much better. It cleans faster and dries way faster.The scent is fresh and powdery, for lack of better description. Again, I’m weird about chemicals so I don’t like artificial scents or cleaning products of any kind and this one isn’t terribly off-putting. And I can compromise on the chemical aspect given how effectively it cleaned my carpets.(For those who are concerned about me cleaning my rug over hard wood, know that I have a multi-step drying process that involves cleaning half the carpet, folding it over and drying it completely on the underside, then turning it back over to finish drying. I’ve done this for years without any damage to my almost 100-year-old hard wood floors.)

I’ve used Kirby shampoo for more than 40 years. I wouldn’t use anything else. Put some shampoo in a spray bottle and use for spot cleaner. Even is you don’t have a pet, order pet shampoo because it cleans better.Spray it on spots and watch them disappear even without blotting or brushing. You don’t need to rinse with water because it dries and vacuums out. Some tough stains may need several cleaning if they’re older. I put the spray bottle on stream and soak any stains I get in my carpet. Sometimes I’ll lightly brush the stain where the carpet fibers are longer. After soaking a stain/spill I just let it dry and vacuum later.

Used this on the carpets when I moved out of the place I was renting. I have two dogs and now and then up to six when family are in. Some of those dogs like to pee/poo on carpets and some like to vomit on them too so I had several stains a a few smelly spots. Using this with the Kirby and a pet spot bot on the most difficult spots, the carpet stains and any smells cleaned right up to where the landlord didn’t know there had been any issues.
